I watched "Memoirs of a Geisha" last Friday, based on the popular novel by "Arthur Golden" that revealed the life of a Geisha. In the years before World War II, a Japanese child, Chiyo (Suzaka Oghu) sold to an Okiya, a house for geisha., Chiyo/Sayuri ( Ziyi Zhang) is resigned to a life of hardship and abuse. Raised amongst geishas, including the bitter Hatsumomo ( Gong Li ) , Sayuri dreams of their educated and venerated lifestyle. When Mameha (Michelle Yoeh) comes looking for her, she begins her long training to become a geisha. With her unusual blue-grey eyes, Sayuri rises to power, commanding the attention of every man she meets, and enraging Hatsumomo further. Nevertheless, all the adoration in the land can't help satisfy Sayuri's love for the one person, The Chairman (Ken Watanabe), who was kind to her while she was a little girl.
Personally I think this is a stunning movie, beautiful cinematography, thoughtful, touching and emotional film. If you enjoy a good love story, then you'll enjoy Memoirs of a Geisha. :)

hallo...salam kenal....kebetulan lagi browsing laura's blog...and ada link ke sini :)
menurut gue sih bukunya jauh lebih bagus dan detail banget compared to the movie....emang sih...cinematografinya bagus bgt....but dari segi pandang ceritanya sih menurut gue kurang....the movie is indeed beautiful but it's empty, ga berkesan. yah ini menurut pendapat gue and beberapa temen after watched this movie.
