Last Friday, I visited this place with several colleagues. I've been longing to visit this place a long time ago since I heard that this place served one of the best Indian Cuisine in Jakarta. Located at Plaza Permata Building decorated in Indian's warm and cozy ambience.

Imperial Treasure : Lamian & Xiao Long Bao
Last week, I was meeting SC at Plaza Indonesia. After browsing for books at Aksara bookstore, we headed to Imperial Treasure : Lamian & Xiao Long Bao (before this place was named : Crystal Jade) and ordered their speciality : Sechuan Lamian (Chinese dish of hand-made noodles served in sechuan soup) & Xiao Long Bao (Shanghai style soup dumpling). Overal the food here are not bad, and by the way, it's a Halal restaurant.

Several weeks ago, I have lunch at a place called "Kedai Pawon Sae" located at Apartemen Gading Residence – Kelapa Gading. This place was a small restaurant serving a wide array of Javanese food. When I read the menu, I found that they also served "Nasi Bali" marked with * as a sign of their favorite item. So we ordered : Nasi Bali (nasi gurih, ayam suir bumbu Bali, tumis kari kacang panjang, dendeng sapi balado, kering tempe, kacang & telur pindang)16K, Nasi Udang Selera (nasi gurih, daging empal asam manis, udang goreng selera, serundeng, sambal bawang)17K, Nasi Liwet (nasi gurih, opor ayam, tempe & tahu bacem, sayur labu siyem, areh telur, tim telur, krecek & kacang merah, telur pindang)15K, Nasi Bogana (nasi gurih, sambal goreng, tempe kacang panjang, ayam kari suir, dendeng Age, sambal goreng rempela ati, telur pindang) 15K. At first I want to order Nasi Bali complete with Sate Lilit & Sambal Matah (20K) but then the waiter said that they didn't have Sate Lilit at that time, and he didn't even know what is Sambal Matah :( when our order came, I noticed that all our order looks almost the same. They must have mixed & matched the ingredients. The "Nasi Bali" was not the same as I expect it should be. The taste was alright, although a little too sweet for my taste, but if you like Javanese food, you should gave it a try.

Ritha from Daun Pisang tagged me to list my "5 things to eat before you die". Thanks Ritha :) The project was initiated by Melisa from The travelers lunch box. who got her inspiration from a list of the 50 things to eat before you die, compiled via a poll of BBC viewers and aired as a television show back in 2004.It surely is hard to list, since I love so many food (pemakan segala), so it's so difficult to me to narrow it down to 5 choices only *greedy*. So later I decided just to list the one I want to try in their original place in Indonesia, and here they are...

Last weekend, with some friends we went to explore "petak sembilan" & "gloria", this place is the old part of the city also known as Jakarta's China Town. This is my first time to petak sembilan *kuper* so I was very excited, We walked along the small but crowded alley with unusual smell, eyes shopping for some unique store & building. found several Budhis temples, and a church with chinese temple architecture.Sep, 15 2006

All this time, whenever I want to eat Bataknese food, I always went to "Lapo Ni Tondongta" (usually at Senayan), I never know that behind that "lapo" there's "Lapo Siagian". got the information from a porklover friends :) Last Friday, with a couple of friends, I went there for lunch. the place was very crowded at lunch time, there's a live music playing Bataknese song loudly. We have to take a seat outside the restaurant. after seated, the servant gave us 3 portion of rice, "panggang B2 lomok-lomok" 8K, "sangsang lomok lomok" 8K, and "sayur daun singkong" 2K. I have to admit that this place serve more delicious food than the one i mentioned above. :)

2 weeks ago, SC & I stopped at RM Puas located near jl. Panjang, the restaurant specialty are martabak, roti jala & kare, they also served "nasi kebuli" (lamb / chicken). After studied the menu (the food here mainly have Arabic & Betawi influence), we ordered : "nasi kebuli kambing" (arabic style rice cooked with a lot of spices, usually derved with dried lamb meat) : about 17K, "roti jala with kare kambing" 10K, "roti canai" ( Indian's bread cooked on a flat iron skillet with a lot of oil) 3K , sambosa (the taste and appearance looks a lot like samosa) 2K, all of that + drinks cost us about 32K if I'm not mistaken, very reasonable price right? and what I love is the kare kambing & kebuli turn out so delicious :)

Last weekend we had dinner at "Istana Korea" located near "Plasa Indonesia". this place used to be my old time favourite place for Korean cuisine (generous portion and reasonable price),
That night we ordered : "dolsot bibimbap" 돌솥비빔밥 (Steamed rice mixed vegetable, beef and egg with chili paste in a hot stone pot) 37K and "Samgyeopsal" 삼겹살 (Unseasoned pork bacon cut from the belly, grilled with garlic and onions, dipped in ssamjjang and wrapped in lettuce leaves) 54.5K. after that they gave us several side dish which usually include "kimchi" 김치 (fermented cabbage in a mixture of ginger, garlic, green onion and chilli pepper). In my opinion the food was still delicious, but the number of side dish were not as generous as before. :P

Last week we had lunch here, "Bakmie Irian" was located on Jl. Prof Satrio, Karet - Casablanca. I've try their "bakmie ayam" 20K with generous pork topping before, but to me the noodle taste was so so.. nothing special except the meat :P so this time I ordered their "Nasi Campur" 15K and I was surprised when it came up. the rice was simply buried under the pork meat. the pork was grilled in red sauce, but still feel tender & juicy. btw I asked the owner about their operating time, they said they open at 8AM and close on 2PM:)

We went here for late dinner last week, located at jl. Gunung Sahari opposite to "mangga 2 square building", very crowded at night. From the restaurant name, you can already guess what is the specialty here : "Kepiting" (crab), so we ordered : "kepiting saos padang", "kepiting lada hitam", "kepiting soka balut telor asin", "kerang rebus" & 1 portion of "kangkung". for rice you can choose between "nasi putih" or "nasi uduk". In my opinion overall the taste of the food was not bad (this is my first visit), but according to my friend who always came here whenever they craved for crab, the taste was not as good as before.
