Around Kuta
Since we stayed at Legian - Kuta, we had a chance to try so many restaurant in here, and I decided to make a summary of what we have here. Some of it was international cuisine : greek/Turkish at Kebab Palace, Italian cuisine at Kuta Puri Restaurant. We also found Balinese buffet at glory restaurant. Most of the night we just wandered around Kuta traditional market where there's a lot cheap food choices : nasi pedes (java), bakmi ayam, soto ceker, several nasi lawar babi seller, nasi jenggo. All of it were very cheap (from 2K - 7K).

One night we decided to tried a turkish/ greek cuisine at Kebab Palace, it's an affordable restaurant serving quite authentic turkish and greek in a relaxing lunch and casual dining. We choose to sit outside the restaurant and ordered : Pilav Ustu Lamb (lamb kebab on a bed of pilav 21.9K, Feta Cheese portion 9.9K and for drinks we ordered Turkish Cay 6K. quite delicious although the portion was not so big.

Glory Restaurant.Actually its rather hard to found an authentic Balinese cuisine aroud Legian - Kuta. So one day we passed this restaurant and I found a leaflet that said they served Balinese homecooking lunch buffet every Sunday for only 25K, we decided to try it. So we arrived the next day around 11AM and waited for the servant to prepared the buffet table. At least twelve of the following exotic dishes was served incuding : Komoh (soup), ikan bumbu bali (fresh fish fried in balinese spices), ikan cekalan (salted fish fried in a complex chilli sauce), jukut jepang (chokos simmered in santan), jukut urab (a steamed vegetables and shaved coconut), jagung goreng (corn fried with beaten eggs and spices), telur bumbu bali (hard boiled eggs in tomato chilli sauce), urutan (pork sausages), jukut bayam, jukut banci (young coconut stewed in a strong stock), kacang saur (peanut and coconut fried with chillies), sate kelapa (meat and coconut satay), tum (spiced forcemeat steamed in banana leaf), ayam pecel (chicken in rich santan sauce), timbungan (mince pork roasted in bamboo tubes - a tabanan speciality), lawar (finely chopped meat, vegetables and spices). It was said that no Balinese feast is complete without lawar. Plus there was several dessert : bubuh injin (black rice pudding served with coconut milk), jaja (several balinese sweets). All of the dishes are spicy, some hot. But overall the food was good although not superb.

Kopi Pot
We decided to spending an afternoon in one cozy café located at legian street. The place was called the Kopi Pot. We ordered a pot of ceylon orange pekkoe tea 8K and darjeeling tea 8K. and a slice of black forrest (they claimed their blackforest was the best in town) 20K. the place ambience was cozy, we can have a tea and watching people passing by on the street. Our tea came in a set of tea pot with a strainer, but when we tasted the tea it feel weird, we noticed that the water had some smell. When we asked them they said they got the hot water from the machines they used to served coffee. And the black forrest was not as good as they claimed it. It was too much milk and so little of chocolate. Maybe if we have chance to visit this place again we better stick to juices or cold drink.. not tea.

Kuta Puri Restaurant
We found this restaurant by accident. I was craved for creamy risotto and I start to search it at every Italian restaurant I found around Legian - Kuta. And later we fount it at a restaurant located at Poppies Lane I. the restaurant was placed in a beautiful garden and was part of Kuta Puri Bungalows. so we went inside for dinner and order a plate of seafood risotto 30K, and penne marinara 18K. We also ordered a bowl of potato & leek soup 9K. the food was good, but what makes us fall in love with this place was their soup, it was so delicious and came in a very generous portion. We decided to be back tomorrow morning for breakfast.

The next morning we came back here for breakfast, I ordered a complete American breakfast (toast, egg, bacon, juice and tea)15K while SC ordered honey pancake 7K and a pot of lipton tea 4K. crazy for their soup we also ordered : French onion soup 9K and pumpkin soup 9K. both were so delicious plus with a very reasonable price. SC also claimed that he never tasted a pancake this delicious and I agree to him. We'll sure be back here if we have chance again .. hiks
