The Apartment

Two weeks ago, we had dinner with several friends at The Apartment, a unique restaurant designed to resemble a large apartment unit with foyer, living room, kitchen, study and bathroom. I called first to make a reservation and was told that there are 2 seating shifts during weekend, where the first shift lasts until 9 PM. We agreed to take the first shift. I also asked for the non-smoking room and turned out that the only non-smoking room in the apartment is the bathroom. We arrived early and were promptly ushered to our table. The bathroom is decorated in green tiles, complete with bathroom accessories and bathtub. I took some time to explore the restaurant room by room and I loved it. :)

The menu is printed in a newspaper format. While waiting for our friends to arrive, we ordered: potato skins (idaho finest baked red skin potato with bacons and melted cheese) 38K. After a while, my friends came and we ordered more: garlic mini pizza (garlic based with melted mozzarella cheese, shallots and sesame seeds) 35K, mushroom soup (mushroom with diced potatoes, homemade herb bread and basil infused oil) 42K, grilled beef rump pizza (char-grilled beef, spanish onion, capsicum, mushrooms served with sour cream, guacamole and mozzarella cheese) 68K and fettuccine salmone (fresh salmon with sun dried tomato in a light creamy tomato sauce) 68K. For dessert we choose the apartment gourmet sampler (tasting portions of tiramisu, chocolate mousse and the chef's creation, which was something resembling apple crumble) 40K and chocolate lava (chocolate cake baked to a crisp outside with soft molten centre, served with vanilla ice cream) 42K. Overall the meal was decent, not bad but not something that you should go out of your way to try. I liked the mushroom soup and fettuccine salmone. The price was not cheap, but I guess we're paying for the ambience.

The food is ok.. But the martinis : bad. Tastes like kiddy party drinks. For the same value, Casa is waaaay better.

i definitely agree with Jenz, we are paying for ambiance.

Totally agree with your conclusion jenz, the food is bit overpriced, not to die for, so we pay mostly for the ambiance

Just went there last nite. Uh totally agree w u jenz en shasa, the food overpriced while the rasa 'biasa banget'. Ga bkl blk lg. I'd rather go 2 Gourmet Garage or Canteen.

i was curious about the comment so went there last night.

my bf ordered tenderloin, i ordered penne pesto chicken. we also had bread butter pudding and strawberry millefeuille for our dessert.

i'd say its good food and the dessert is just gorgeous!

Saw this on reuters. I don't know about eating in bathroom. Too much of a gimmick, I think.
