Pondok Ikan Bakar Kalimantan
Posted by jeny at 4:41 AM
A day after we returned from Bali, we went with several friends to Cimanggis to try ikan patin bakar bambu ( big catfish grilled in bamboo). The place was really really crowded when we arrived, even though it was already 2 PM. We tried to reserved earlier but were told that they don't accept reservations. So while waiting for our table, we placed our order first. We ordered: 2 ikan patin bakar bambu weight 1.7kg for 170K, 2 portion of sop ikan gurame (big gourami fish soup) weight 1.6Kg for 128K, teri tawar balado 30K, ayam bakar ala Kalimantan (Kalimantan style grilled chicken) 10K, sop iga (rib soup) 30K, sop buntut (oxtail soup) 30K, tumis kangkung 10K, karedok (Sundanese vegetables salad with peanut dressing) 10K plus orange juice mixed with coconut meat 16K & young coconut juice 8K. Overall it was a hearty meal, the fish were tasty and delicious, the sauce was so generous that we can take the leftover home. I also love the gurame soup as it was so fresh (it reminds me of Manado style kuah ikan asam). The orange juice also came in a large portion, a big beer glass with sugar on the side. :)

Cimory

After lunch we went to Venus to buy roti unyil and then continued to Puncak. Luckily the road was not as crowded as it usually happens on weekends. We arrived at Cimory restaurant in about half an hour. The place was crowded and quite hard to get a table with good view, so we just sat at available table.

Kantin Dewi Sri
Posted by jeny at 11:11 PM
Three weeks ago we went to Bogor for lunch. This time our destination is a cafeteria called Kantin Dewi Sri which according to Kuliner series: Ke Bogor Yuk is famous for its fried chicken. The place is small and clean, but it felt a bit dark & gloomy. We took a tray and began to browse the displayed dishes. There were various dishes to choose, we took fried chicken 10.5K, nasi pepes 9K, perkedel 4K, pepes jamur 8K, sayur pare 8K, semur jengkol 8K. Overall the meal was OK, the chicken was tender, but not really special. But maybe its because I'm used to hot and spicy dishes so I found the meal a bit bland.

Koh Cu Ong

No, I'm not blogging about ngkoh2, it still about food. Koh Cu Ong is selling smoked chicken (available both free-range & broiler chicken) & honey roasted pork. He sells it from a small cart in front of Ngesti supermarket. Koh Cu Ong claims that he has been selling from that spot for more than four decades. We bought some of the smoked chicken & roasted pork. Both of it tasted super duper delicious. The pork was so crispy while the chicken meat was so tender. His stall is going to be my regular destination everytime i go to Bogor.

Soto Mie Agih
Posted by jeny at 5:00 PM
From toge goreng bu evon, we moved on to jl. Surya Kencana (near Gang Aut) to try Soto Mie Agih. Since we're still full, we only ordered a bowl of sotomie + es cingcau ijo from the neighbouring cart to share. Sotomie Agih is a Sukabumi style sotomie which in my opinion is a marriage between chinese cuisine and local cuisine. Yes, the sotomie is not halal, they use bakut (pork ribs) in the soup, plus a dash of vinegar. To be honest, it tasted quite weird, I didn't realy like the sour taste in the soup, the noodle texture is fine though. Later, my friend suggested that we should tried the sotomie with a separate bowl of soup, so maybe we will be back :)

Toge Goreng Bu Evon
Posted by jeny at 9:27 AM
After lunch, we went to Ranggagading area, there's a famous Laksa Bogor called Laksa Mang Ocim (also listed in the book). Since we're still full from the lunch we didn't tried it, maybe some other time. After that, we walked through Ranggagading to get a taste of Toge Goreng (fried bean sprout). According to my friend it is actually called Ge Co (toge pake tauco). It tasted delicious, far better than the ones sold by Toge Goreng seller in Jakarta. The bean sprout was cooked in a pan with a little bit of water, then put in a plate and topped with noodle, tofu, and rice cake, after that they pour the mixed of tauco, oncom, red onion, tomato and fresh onion sauce, plus a splash of thick/sweet soy sauce, vinegar + chili sauce. It was perfect.

Sate Pak Rebing
Posted by jeny at 8:57 AM
Last Month, after reading the third edition of Kuliner 'Ke Bogor Yuk!' series, I went to Bogor to try several dishes mentioned in the book. We arrived at Bogor around lunch time, so we decided to have lunch first. Our destination is Sate Pak Rebing near Empang area. The place is impossible to find if you're not familiar with the location as there's no signboard and it's hidden in a small alley. Luckily, we had some of the book writers to guide us. When we arrived, they've already ordered several portions of mutton satay and clear mutton soup. The gule was already sold out, so we only ordered the soup. The satay looks different from the mutton satays I've eaten before. It is cut in cubes and there's no visible grill marks or hints of sweet soy sauce on the satay. Although it looked undercooked, my friend explained that it is a cicurug style satay. Surprisingly, the taste was amazing, the meat was very tender, no prengus smell. It's accompanied by a plate of simple peanut sauce with sweet soy sauce. Add some chilli sauce and acar to the mix, it tasted very delicious. The soup was also not bad, although SC complained that they've put too much pepper in it. Overall, it was a very fullfilling lunch, and we still have so many meal to sample. oh no!

Kedai Kita
Posted by jeny at 12:27 PM
Last month when we visited Bogor, we stopped by this place called Kedai Kita located near Makaroni Panggang & Pia Apple Pie. I heard that this place's pizza served thin crust pizza baked with wood burning oven. Since we're still full after lunching at Cibiuk we only ordered 'pepperoni pizza' (salami topped with mozarella). In my opinion, the pizza was not bad, but the crust was not as thin as I want it to :)

Rumah Makan Asli Cibiuk
Posted by jeny at 6:52 PM
2 weeks ago, I went to Bogor with some friends. We arrived there around lunch time and headed straight to a restaurant called CIBIUK. It is a Sundanese restaurant originally from Bandung - West Java. I heard about this place and they claim to be Rajanya sambel, jagonya gurame, topnya ayam & gepuk. The dining area was separate into 2 places, the main dining room with tables, and the saung for lesehan. we choose to eat at the saung. So here's what we ordered : nasi liwet castrol (for 2) 42.5K, nasi bakar pulen special 21.750K, tumis genjer oncom 9.5K, sayur asem 5K, pepes jamur 6.5K, bandrek susu 8K, and warm orange juice 8.5K. The rice packages came with fried chicken, tempe, tahu & lalapan, plus their famous sambel : sambel cibiuk (made from fresh green tomatoes, chillies and lemon lime if I'm not mistaken). Overall the meal was OK, not bad but not to die for. The sambel was not as hot as I expected. but the service was good, plus the place atmosphere, we really enjoyed our time there. :)
