Bibliotheque

From Tokio Joe, we went to Bibliotheque for dessert. It's said to be one of the new hip places in Jakarta and from what I heard, they have a nice concept. Because we arrived without reservation, I'm a bit hopeless that we can get a table. Luckily, it was still early Saturday night, so the place wasn't crowded yet and we can get a table until 9:30PM. Bibliotheque's interior is designed to look like an old british library with parquet flooring, high ceiling, mezzanine floor, high window panel, complete with bookshelves and ladder covering the wall. They've already put on Christmas decoration and Christmas jazz music played in the background, making the ambience warm and comfortable. Even the restroom looked nice :)

Potato Head
Posted by jeny at 9:25 PM
I've been meaning to visit this place from several months ago, but due to its popularity, I was unable to make the reservation and was told to make a reservation 2 weeks ahead. After that, I just lost my interest. But last weekend, my friend managed to reserve a table for the 10 of us on Friday night. So we went there and after waiting for a while, we were given a table inside. The interior design of Potato Head is actually quite interesting, with walls and ceilings covered with lots of old window panels in various sizes. The lighting is very poor, so please forgive my poor pictures. I don't quite like this place since our table was directly under the aircon that blown us with cold air from top & behind.

Marmalade Pantry

Marmalade Pantry is another new franchise from Singapore with the slogan GOOD THINGS TO EAT. Their menu varied from salad to sandwich, risotto, pasta etc. But I came simply for their dessert. On our first visit, we ordered a devil food cake 35K. The cake was still warm, topped with melted chocolate and generous almond slices. It was sinfully delicious. I surely will be back for more :)

Fat Burger

A new burger joint called Fat Burger has just opened in Plaza Indonesia Extension. It's a franchise from the US. We went there several weeks ago and ordered their smallest set menu which includes burger (without additional egg/beef bacon), fries and soft drink. It costs us close to 60K. The taste was actually not bad as they claimed to use high quality beef for its patties. However, as it's quite pricey, I think I still prefer the good old Burger King :)

Marche

3 weeks ago, we tried this fancy restaurant located at Plaza Senayan. Upon arrival, each of us were given a card to be stamped when we order. If the card is lost, the restaurant will charge 1 million rupiah that will be given to charity. The interior and atmosphere of this place is quite interesting as it looks like a fresh food market somewhere in Europe. Marche uses wooden furnitures and pictures of farm life to create a cozy atmosphere, but it comes off as more artificial than real.

Hadramout

Three weeks ago, we went to Hadramout for dinner. This place is famous for its middle east dishes. The interior is predictably decorated with a middle east look and the not-so-large room is separated into several cubicles. There are 2 choices of seating: on the table or on the carpet. Since there were 12 of us, we chose to sit on the carpet so we can have a more intimate communal dinner. :)

Fish & Chips
Posted by jeny at 12:23 PM
From Die Stube, we moved to our next destination. Still in Kemang area, there's a small joint that sells only Fish & Chips. There isn't even a parking space so SC had to park at La Codefin building behind the joint. He knew this place since 2000, back when he worked right across Fish & Chips. After reading a review here, he was dying to go there again. The menu is divided into several sections: Fish & Chips (admiral 48K, captaens 38K and sailors 25K), Burgers, side orders (potato scallops, onion ring), juices, milk shake & thick shake. Considering that we're still full, we only ordered the 'Captaens' fish and chips (80gr imported dori fish and the golden crispy home made chips) to share. I have to admit that this is the best fish & chips I've ever had. The fish was fresh, and the batter was crispy, and the chips was also not bad. We surely look forward to return to this place. :)

The Apartment
Posted by jeny at 6:32 PM
Two weeks ago, we had dinner with several friends at The Apartment, a unique restaurant designed to resemble a large apartment unit with foyer, living room, kitchen, study and bathroom. I called first to make a reservation and was told that there are 2 seating shifts during weekend, where the first shift lasts until 9 PM. We agreed to take the first shift. I also asked for the non-smoking room and turned out that the only non-smoking room in the apartment is the bathroom. We arrived early and were promptly ushered to our table. The bathroom is decorated in green tiles, complete with bathroom accessories and bathtub. I took some time to explore the restaurant room by room and I loved it. :)

Breakfast at Tekor
Posted by jeny at 10:55 AM
SC has been wanting to have breakfast at Tekor Restaurant, so one morning, we got up early, skipped breakfast provided by our hotel and walked for about 45 minutes to Tekor Restaurant. The place was already half-full when we arrived. SC ordered Lumberjack breakfast 31.5K and I opted for Farmer breakfast 20.5K. SC's Lumberjack turned out to be a big portion breakfast consisting of a basket of whole grain bread with jam and butter, 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 slices of ham, 3 roasted tomatoes and assorted vegetables plus fresh orange juice and tea. My order was also quite large, consisting of baked potatoes with scrambled egg and bacon. It was the best breakfast we had in Bali. The price was also reasonable compared to what we get. On top of that, the view from Tekor was also great. I hope we can stay next to Tekor when we get to Bali again, so we can have breakfast there every day :)

Mama's German Restaurant
Posted by jeny at 11:50 AM
There's a German restaurant on Legian street that I've been wanting to try. Since It was not far from our hotel, I dragged SC there for dinner one night. We were seated at the garden bar area where we can see the open bar in the middle of the room, serving German beer. We ordered cream soup mama's special 9.5K, four original Nurnberger sausages served with home made sauerkraut and mashed potato 56.7K, Hot Apple Fritters with one scoop Vanilla Ice 21.5K, ice lemon tea 12.5K. The soup tasted a bit like Hungarian goulash soup, but it was good. The sausages and sauerkraut was also very satisfying and filling. Lucky we only ordered one main course to share. The apple fritters was also delicious, although we felt very full after that. SC had wanted to return for breakfast, but unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to visit it again. Oh well, at least we can be sure that the restaurant will still be there when we return to Bali in a couple of years :D

Flapjacks
Posted by jeny at 10:49 AM
The weather in Bali was mostly scorching hot when we were there, so this place felt like an oasis for us. Located strategically at Kartika Plaza road, this place offers various kinds of gelato, pancakes & pasta. We sat there for a couple of hours just enjoying the ice cream. On our first visit, we ordered Silver dollar pancakes medium (7 pcs) 30K and a single scoop of mango gelato 18K. Several days later, SC insisted we should return and this time, we ordered Italian salad 24K and double scoops gelato for 34K. In my opinion, the dishes taste delicious, especially the homemade gelato. The service was friendly and I love the crimson-dominated interior :)

From Warung Italia, we walked to Bali Deli and entered Le Spot Café. Since it was already dark, we chose to sit inside instead of the garden area and ordered Spaghetti AOP mushroom 38K and french fries 10K for me while SC only ordered dessert, choco mouse cake 20K. In my opinion, the spaghetti AOP was decent and the french fries only average, but the dessert was superb. Two days later, we went back again. This time we sat at the garden area and ordered huzaren sla, ginger ale, veggie drinks and once again, SC ordered dessert, this time tiramisu. Overall, it was delicious. Too bad the Jakarta's Bali Deli had closed.

I found this charming restaurant by accident a few months ago near Four Seasons Hotel. It grabbed my attention the second I passed by with its high colonial windows reflecting the warmth of the interior inside. So a week later, I decided to have lunch here with several friends. The place was not crowded when I arrived, I easily got a table. The interior design is cozy and charming, with an open kitchen in the middle of the room. There is also an alfresco lounge with cozy couches that looks great for hanging out after work.

Decanter
Posted by jeny at 10:37 AM
Last night, I managed to drag SC to Decanter, a wine house located at Kuningan area. Although we don't drink, I heard that the meal served there is quite good, so I decided to try it. SC has been unwilling to visit Decanter because the place is very smoker friendly. So we tried to arrive early (a little after 6PM) while the place was still empty. I like the design, as it is spacious, very earthy with broken brick floor, paneled wall, wooden table & seat with plants everywhere. The ceiling is designed to resemble a starry sky with hundred of small light bulbs. I love it although SC wondered how much electricity is consumed to light up those bulbs.

At Pacific Place last month, I spotted a new place next to Aksara bookstore called Canteen. It looks cozy with tall ceiling, brick wall and warm atmosphere. Unfortunately, the place is full of smokers and SC refused to go there when I asked him to accompany me. Luckily, I spotted several tables in front of Aksara (an increasingly typical treatment for non-smokers). The menu consists of western cuisine: soup, salad, pasta&rice, sandwich, pizza, main course, desserts. I also saw several asian dishes on the menu. Several dishes in the menu are quite interesting, such as fish en papilotte 60K, crispy chicken roll 55K, classic duck confit 55K, penne arabbiata with crab 55K.

Sumber Hidangan

Last month, on our short trip to Bandung, we visited the famous Sumber Hidangan for a quick lunch. Situated at Braga, a road steeped in nostalgia, Sumber Hidangan is one of Bandung's food icons that sells Dutch-style bread and delicacies. The ambiance of this place is so old that most of the staff and waiter looked like they've worked here for ages. Every Bandungers I know, including their parents, have fond memories of this place.

When we got there, the place was packed, but we were fortunate to get a table. It seems that this is a place to see and be seen.

Pan-o

Last month, we had a quick lunch at Pan-O before the chocolate appreciation class. It's a new pancake restaurant at FX lifestyle center and as predicted, stationed the non-smoker outside of the restaurant *hiks*. We ordered their three stack original pancake with maple syrup, one fancy pancake called kyoto (grilled chicken, tomatoes, chicken ham, oyster mushroom and mozarella, served with rolled pancake and mashed potato) 50K and berry ice drinks. Their original pancake tasted quite good, although not as good as the pancake in Pancious. Their fusion / fancy pancake tasted is just mediocre, though the drink was nice. Overall, I think this place is overpriced with standard pancake.

Cosi

Last month, after office hours, we visited Cosi, a restaurant located inside FX lifestyle Xnter. We've been to Cosi several times at their Pluit branch and in my memory it was not bad. We asked for a non-smoking area, and unsurprisingly, were ushered to a table outside near the escalator. Although designated as non-smoking, the location still smelled, probably caused by smoke coming from inside the restaurant or the chain smokers sitting on Segafredo's second floor. Cosi calls itself a Hongkong and Macau cafe, serving Macau snack, Hongkong BBQ, Macau Curry, Portuguese styled baked rice, Hong Kong street food, Designer Congee, La Mian and Macaroni, Sandwich & Bun, thick toast and Western hot plate.

Three weeks ago, we were around Kemang area looking for light dinner, and we decided to try Cafe de Paris. Cafe de Paris has just recently moved to the second floor of La Codefin building. The place is small, but warmly welcoming with French ambience. We ordered their escargot 35K and onion soup 19K. We didn't order any dessert as we're planning to have dessert somewhere else later. They gave us a basket of bread. The escargot was cooked in garlic & butter sauce. The taste was quite good and the price can be considered very reasonable for French dishes. I like the escargot and the onion soup, although the latter was a bit too salty. We'll definitely be back for more.

Last weekend, we attended a chocolate appreciation class (80K on Sundays, 65K on Tuesdays and Thursdays) held at Creole chocolaterie patisserie. As it was impossible for me to join during weekdays, we booked for sunday session instead. The place is small but warm and cozy. Upon arriving, each of us was given a cup of Belgian chocolate brew and a bottle of mineral water. The class was taught by Jose 'Joy' Pelo (a Filipino who taught at culinary school in Australia). He began the class with a story about the origin of chocolate. We got to sniff and taste an array of chocolate prepared in a small plates. We tasted compound chocolate, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, milk chocolate, and chocolate containing 43%, 64%, 71%, and even 94% cocoa mass. I can only tolerate the 64% dark chocolate as the 71% & 94% tasted too bitter for me.

Last month, we visited a place called Glass House located at Pluit area. The place has a quite nice design & concept. The menu is a combination of Asian & Western dishes. Since we've already had lunch somewhere else, we didn't order much. We only ordered a portion of fish & chips and warm chocolate cake. The fish & chips was quite good, served with what they said is tar tar sauce. The fish was fresh & fried in the right crispiness. As for the chocolate cake, the portion was small, but the cake itself was not bad at all. It was warm, using dark chocolate I presume, with a right texture. A funny thing happened when we paid the bill. I usually keep restaurant's bill for review. But the waiter didn't give me back my receipt, and when I asked for it, it came back with a very crumpled paper. :))

Last month, we visited Coquelicot again for lunch and this time, they were open. The place is designed as a fancy French cafe, with fancy candelier, fancy table lamp and cozy chair. I like the design of this place. Even their menu is fancy too. :) While waiting for my friend to arrive, I feel quite hungry, so I start ordering their soupe a l'oignon au fromage (baked creamy caramelized onion soup served with baquete in cheese toppings) 40K. In my opinion the soup tasted very average. The onion was almost non-existent and the soup has the texture & taste of canned soup. I think it was not prepared from scratch.

Gourmet Garage

After our not so lucky experience at Dijan's, we decided to return to Gourmet Garage again. This time we're lucky as there were several empty spots in the small parking lot. Gourmet Garage is a combination of 3 restaurants: Jbay, Hiro, Sabaa & 1 supermarket in one roof. No wonder this place is always full. We chose to sit on the first floor at Jbay. After scanning the cake & ice cream selection, we ordered Hot Chocolate Melt Pudding 39K. The service was very nice compared to Dijan's, even though we only ordered 1 item (with no drink). About 15 minutes later our order came, a small chocolate cake accompanied by a waffle basket of vanilla ice cream + chocolate sauce. The taste was simply superb. The chocolate inside tasted like dark chocolate and it goes perfectly with the vanila ice cream & mint leaves.

Gourmet Garage

We went back several weeks later and this time, we ordered three scoops of ice cream (12K each): chocolate chip, tiramisu & banana pistachio, and also ordered their apple tart. All of it are delicious. The chocolate ice cream was bitter as dark chocolate should be and the apple tart had a nice cinnamon aroma. We will be back again for their other menus when we have time :P

[Reopening] Ya Udah Bistro

Ya Udah

Ya-Udah was our old time favorite western restaurant, we're dissapointed when they decided to sold the premises at Jalan Jaksa. So when we heard & read that they've opened again in the new location, we're very excited. Last month, on 15 June, several days after their reopening, we head there with several friends for brunch. The new place on Kelapa Gading Boulevard is not hard to find, located a few hundred meters from the Kelapa Gading/Kayu Putih/Perintis Kemerdekaan intersection. The interior stayed more or less the same. I guess they tried to create the same atmosphere like the one at Jaksa. There are 2 separate dining area, inside or at the terrace. We chose to sit at the terrace, which is sheltered by a yellow awning. That's why all the pictures we took looked yellowish. :(

Bali Deli
2 days ago, SC gave me a link that announced Bali Deli has reopened its door again at the same old place (Sudirman Place, now renamed to FX Lifestyle X'nter). We decided to try it this weekend. So last night after office hour, I rushed to Bali Deli and saw SC already sitting there sipping his tea & eating croisant. The interior still look quite messy, it looks like they opened in hurry. The elements don't quite matched up & the chairs (in its coffee shop anyway) are mostly uncomfortable. Exposed ceiling shows all the aircon pipes & sprinkles. I love their old interior better than the new one.

We've visited this place several time in the last 3 months whenever we went to Pacific Place. This place is quite interesting. They served several kind of dishes, from bread, pasta, pizza and even sushi. There are several dining area: inside the cafe, outside in the "yatch", or even at the light house. So far we've tried 2 types of pasta from their menu: squid ink linguini pasta 30K & minced wagyu (if i'm not mistaken), served in a hot stone bowl, potato & leek soup 25K, & warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream 23K. Overall the dishes tasted great. The presentation is nice, although that should be a given since Y&Y is managed by the people behind Y! Grill, a fine dining restaurant on Wisma Nusantara. Its friendly service and affordable price ensures that we'll be back for more :)

Last month, we tried a new restaurant called Prefere 72 located at Pacific Place, apparently it was a branch restaurant from Bandung. I have read about this place before, it was a combination beetween restaurant and library. So we ordered one of their recomendation menu : spaghetti kampung and sop buntut. I was quite eager to tried the 'spaghetti kampung', because it said that it was made with Indonesian traditional spices. When It came, the noodles was swimming in a yellowish sauce and topped with shredded cheese. It smell quite weird, but it tasted quite OK, the sauce taste more like the soup buntut, but I'm not sure about combining it with cheese. on the other hand, SC's sop buntut taste was delicious, although the spices was not as strong as Sumatra's sop buntut. I even help him to finish it :P

A Presto
Posted by jeny at 5:22 PM
3 weeks ago, we tried this new restaurant at Pacific Place called A Presto. It is one of the branches of Crystal Jade Restaurants that served western cuisine such as tapas. The restaurant is small but cozy, the service was really good, too bad smoking is allowed :( Since we're planning to have dinner somewhere else, we only ordered some tapas : crispy diced cheese and potato (the combination of cheese and potato, crisp fried and served with olives and pickles) 20K, the soup sampler called a little bit of soup (4 types of soup : carrot, mushroom, brocolli and pumpkin soup served in 4 small glasses) 25K, and a slice of butter chocolate cake 20K and peach snow ball 5.5K. Great meal and great presentation!

Segarra

segarra
Last weekend we visited Segarra at Pantai Carnaval Ancol. The place is perfect for hanging out with friends, enjoy sunset and have dinner with sea breeze. The design reminds me of a similar beach club called Ku De Ta at Seminyak - Bali, perfect for watching sunset. At 6PM Saturday night, the place was filled with nicely dressed people, we have to wait at the lounge for about an hour to get a table.

Lasagna Deluxe
Posted by jeny at 11:54 AM
Two weeks ago, we visited Spaghetti House at the Pacific Place Mall. I used to love their lasagna deluxe that I've once ate years ago and it has been so long since I last tried it. So this time, I ordered their lasagna deluxe 42K with mushroom soup 15K. I don't know whether I put too much expectation on the meal or I was just being nyinyir, but I was quite dissapointed when the meal came and it was not as good as I rememberred it. The mushroom soup tasted more like instant soup, while their lasagna was not good either. It was gooey, not as creamy as I remembered and I think the chicken they used was not fresh because it tasted weird. I noticed that the price was still similar to a few years ago, so maybe they reduced the food quality to maintain that price. :(

Kenny Roger's Roaster

Kenny Rogers Roaster

Two weeks ago, we visited Kenny Roger's Roaster. Apparently, this restaurant once operated in Jakarta during the early 90s but then closed down. So when it opened again next to Kem Chick in Pacific Place, we went there to try their 1/4 Chicken Meal with original/black pepper sauce 39.9K. The chicken comes with 3 choices of side dishes (I chose the savoury rice, potato with garlic & parsley and mixed fruit) and home-made muffin (3 choices : chocolate raisin, banana raisin & vanilla) with ice lemon tea (refill) 14.9K. The service was quite speedy (can this place be categorized as a fast food restaurant?). Overall the meal was not bad, although SC said that he'd prefer Q than this one. The portion is big. I can hardly finish my muffin so we had to ask the waiter to provide a doggy bag. :)

windchime

I already heard about this place for quite some time now, but never have chance to try it my self. So this time, this place sits on our 'die die must try' list in Bandung. Located in Jl. Sawung Galing, actually its a residential house turned into a restaurant. So we were escorted from one room to another room until we decided to sit near the window. the place was designed in old colonial house, so the ceiling was quite high, & the lighting creates a cozy athosphere. I love this place instantly. :)

We had lunch here several weeks ago, at first I want to have "nasi gule" at Unpar's cafeteria, but turned out the stall didn't open that day, so we went up to Bumi Sangkuriang instead. This place is one of my favorite place in Bandung. On my schools day, we used to swim here in the morning on afternoon, and after that we always snacked on : bitter ballen / chicken wings and pinacolada juice. This time we prefer to have our lunch in the indoor restaurant (not at the poolside).

Burger King
Posted by jeny at 9:45 AM
We stopped here to grab a quick bite before the movie last Monday, apparently this place have open for more than 1 month now, so there's no queue anymore. I just need something light that night so I only ordered Whoopy Jr. (a smaller version of whooper : flame-broiled beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, mayo, and ketchup) and then get a seat. The ambience of this place was quite nice, there's a comfy couch in the corner and most of all, the place have non-smoking rule :) The burger was not bad, the bread was tender, the meat was tasty, the vegetable was crunchy and taste fresh. But I still prefer Hot Shot's burger from this one :) We'll be back to try their other specialty

Kafe Pisa
Posted by jeny at 8:03 PM
Last Ramadhan season, i went to Kafe Pisa to break the fast with some friends. personally I didn't really interested had dinner in this place, from what I heard this place was famous for their gelato. but since my friends decided to go here, I think its worth to try. The place was so full when I arrived, we got seated inside the cafe and were given 2 menu : 1 for the meal & one for the gelato. this place served mainly Italian cuisine such as pasta, pizza, but I saw there's also several selection of asian cuisine (ayam rica, sop buntut, several types of fried rice, bakmi, & teriyaki). After a while we ordered : insalata primavera (tuna salad) 29.5K, Penne Pazze (penne pasta with chicken in creamy mozarella sauce) 35.5 and for drink i ordered 'tomato juice ala Italia' 19.5. after that we studied the gelato list. it was so tempting we can't help to order 2 type of gelato. Overal the meal good, very generous portion, the gelato was superb. I guess I'll be back for the gelato :)

Chili's
Posted by jeny at 8:03 PM
Last week, I had lunch at Chili's Grill & Bar Family Restaurant. This place served quite authentic Mexican cuisine. So here's what we ordered : "Triple Play" (a combo of chili's three favorite starters, generous portion of chicken crispers, wing over buffalo and southwestern eggrolls with sauces for dipping) 60K, "Classic Nachos" (Chili queso, cheese, beans, jalapenos, tomatoes, guacamole & sour cream) 52K, "Skillet Queso" with tostada chips and salsa 55K"Mushroom Jack Fajita" (1/2 pound of chicken or steak smothered with jack cheese, beef bacon & fresh sauteed mushroom) 160K, "South western Cobb Salad" (Crispy Chicken breast, relish, beef bacon, diced eggs, miced cheese, pico de gallo and avocado ranch dressing) 60K, "quesadilla explosion" (Fajita-marinated chicken, corn relish, mixed with cheese, cilantro, diced tomato and tortilla strips tossed in a citrus balsamic dressing, garnished with chipotle-ranch drizzle & cheese quesadilla wedges) 60K and "Country Fried Chicken" (served with mashed potatoes, sweet corn on the cob & garlic toast). Overall the food was good & came in a very very BIG SIZES & good service too.

[CLOSED] ChatterBox Cafe
Posted by jeny at 4:32 PM
2 weeks ago we had dinner with some friends at "ChatterBox Cafe". Its been a long2 time ago since I last visited this place (maharani bo!). But this time they have "dailycious" program which gave 20% off for BII card holder, so we decided to gave it a try.

When I was here before I usually choose their Hainanese Chicken Rice, but this time I saw there's alot of new menu including some pasta selection, sandwich & Indian fried rice. so we ordered : "seafood with green noodle and cheese sauce" (served with prawn, dory fish and spinach noodle) 54.5K, "seafood clay pot" (served with rice) 46.5K, "kung po chicken" (served with rice and vegetable) 38K, "hainanese chicken rice" 34K, "chicken, prawn or fish curry" (served with rice, potato and curry sauce) 43K, "szechuan tau foo" (served with rice and vegetable) 30K, "es kacang" (shaved ice on red beans, jelly sweet corn and palm seeds flavored with rose syrup and durian ice cream) 19.5K & bottom less ice tea (free flow) 19K.

Overall the taste was not bad, better than I remembered. Good service & the price *sigh* yah OK lah but still a little bit "mahal" lah.. and I didn't like the interior, its like sitting in a glass cage :P

[Closed] Ya Udah Bistro
Posted by jeny at 11:58 AM
Ya udah is an Indonesian expression that means nevermind, an apt description for the bistro's minimal decoration and simple setup. The food however, is anything but ya udah. Jenz and I ordered Pork Steak Seppertoni 38.5K, charcoal-grilled 250 g pork loin topped with fruit creamy swiss sauce. The menu comes complete with soup of the day (tomato soup) and side dishes (Ya-udah potato gratin and brocolli pattie).

ya udah bistro

The pork loin is a wee bit chewy and I don't like the fruit-based swiss sauce (though Jenz loves it). The tomato soup is sufficiently sour and tasty, but what I really like is the cheesy potato gratin and the brocolli pattie. We will be back to try more of its menus.

Mangiare

Last week, I had a one day trip to Bogor with some of my colleague galls, its almost lunch time when we arrived and we stopped by Kafe Mangiare [baca : manjare] for lunch. my friend, Febi recommended this place to us. Its an old colonial style house transformed into a restaurant. there's 2 dining area, the main house and at the backyard. We decided to have lunch at the backyard.

mangiare

We ordered : Sup Buntut Sapi Goreng (Fried Oxtail Soup) 42.5K, Sup Iga Asam Pedas (chili Sour Ribs Soup) 27.5K, Caserole Spagetti (27.5K), Smoked Beef Fettucini (27.5). The tasted was not bad, the pasta taste delicious. But the portion was quite small, my "sop iga asem pedas" had more bones than meat.. but overall worth to try lah...

Mangkok Putih : the noodle bar
Posted by jeny at 12:26 PM

Last night we had dinner at Mangkok Putih located at Setiabudi Building. The restaurant was decorated in the usual cafe decoration with a touch of red accent. I don't really like the place setting, I think it's a little bit too crowded, no separation between smoking and no smoking area. :(

After seated we ordered 2 Duck Noodle(27K), Tempura Udon(35K), MP Fried Seafood Kweteow (26K), MP Fruit Cocktail (10K), Lime Squash(12.5K), Lime Juice(12.5K) and Guava Juice(12.5). One of the house speciality that we ordered last night was "Duck Noodle", I agree that the duck was delicious, but the rest of our order didn't taste very special. mmm I ate at Mangkok Putih @ Cilandak Town Square once, and I think their food quality is better than this one.

The Valley
Posted by jeny at 2:27 PM

Whenever I went to Bandung, I always went to "The Valley" for dinner. "The Valley" is a good place to dine as it is located on a hilltop that has spectacular view of the whole valley where Bandung is situated. There are some similar restaurant near this place such as "The Peak", "The View", "Sierra", etc.. but in my oppinion "The Valley" served much much more delicious food :)

That night when we arrived, we was lucky to get a table inside the restaurant, usually we eat at the terrace in oeder to enjoy the view. The restaurant inside was warm.. light by candlelight, and soft jazz music was playing at the corner. We ordered the house speciality : "The Zoupa Zoupa Soup" (unforgetable valley cream soup topped with freshly baked pastry crust) 18.5K, "Creme de Poulet" (french style cream of chicken soup served with garlic crackers) 14.5K, "Singaporean Claypot Rice" (authentic chicken rice served extremelly hot woth chicken seafood vegetable & soup) 32K, "Lamb Chop BBQ" (charcoal Grilled rib eye served with potato vegetables & mushroom sauce)... mmmm very delicious.. some of my friends friends show up that night.. there was life music where you can request a song, my friends surprised me by requested a happy birthday song for me :) and I got a small back forrest cake with candle on top .. hehehehe... what a night.. thx alot Manda, Ucie, Tika :)
