After late lunch at Sari Melayu we still have some time to kill before picking SC's sister from the airport, so we headed to Casa - Kemang determined to try only the dessert. Located on the second floor of Aksara Book Store. I like the decor of this place, it was so sixties. The place was still empty so we can have our meal without having people smoking next to our table.
We ended up ordered eggplant, anchovy & cheese flaky pizza, melt chocolate cake and pineapple lime mint juice. Overall the meal was well executed, the pizza taste delicious, but the melt chocolate cake texture was too mushy (almost liquid) , although the appearance was quite interesting :)

Last month when we visited Bogor, we stopped by this place called Kedai Kita located near Makaroni Panggang & Pia Apple Pie. I heard that this place's pizza served thin crust pizza baked with wood burning oven. Since we're still full after lunching at Cibiuk we only ordered 'pepperoni pizza' (salami topped with mozarella). In my opinion, the pizza was not bad, but the crust was not as thin as I want it to :)

3 weeks ago, we tried this new restaurant at Pacific Place called A Presto. It is one of the branches of Crystal Jade Restaurants that served western cuisine such as tapas. The restaurant is small but cozy, the service was really good, too bad smoking is allowed :( Since we're planning to have dinner somewhere else, we only ordered some tapas : crispy diced cheese and potato (the combination of cheese and potato, crisp fried and served with olives and pickles) 20K, the soup sampler called a little bit of soup (4 types of soup : carrot, mushroom, brocolli and pumpkin soup served in 4 small glasses) 25K, and a slice of butter chocolate cake 20K and peach snow ball 5.5K. Great meal and great presentation!

Last weekend we visited Segarra at Pantai Carnaval Ancol. The place is perfect for hanging out with friends, enjoy sunset and have dinner with sea breeze. The design reminds me of a similar beach club called Ku De Ta at Seminyak - Bali, perfect for watching sunset. At 6PM Saturday night, the place was filled with nicely dressed people, we have to wait at the lounge for about an hour to get a table.
After we got a table, we ordered appetizer to share : fried platter 85K, consisting of fried mushroom with tofu (I guess), vegetables spring roll, prawn with mayonnaise, and deep fried calamari. The drink list is impressive and full of cool & stylish names. They also have a fine wine list in a separate menu (by Yohan Handoyo). We picked ice mint chocolate 30K (delicious), lemon soda 25K, strawberry soda 25K. We also ordered their Crepes Sunset 35K and creamy beef pizza 65K. As a compliment, we got : hazelnut martini and a dessert (noname) made from strawberries halves mixed with a tiny shot of vodka and sugar, it was damn delicious!!! Overall all the meal we tasted were flawless. To me, it's a perfect place to hang out with friends, but if you're looking for a more full filling dinner, maybe this place is not suitable.

Two weeks ago, we visited Spaghetti House at the Pacific Place Mall. I used to love their lasagna deluxe that I've once ate years ago and it has been so long since I last tried it. So this time, I ordered their lasagna deluxe 42K with mushroom soup 15K. I don't know whether I put too much expectation on the meal or I was just being nyinyir, but I was quite dissapointed when the meal came and it was not as good as I rememberred it. The mushroom soup tasted more like instant soup, while their lasagna was not good either. It was gooey, not as creamy as I remembered and I think the chicken they used was not fresh because it tasted weird. I noticed that the price was still similar to a few years ago, so maybe they reduced the food quality to maintain that price. :(

Two weeks ago, we visited Kenny Roger's Roaster. Apparently, this restaurant once operated in Jakarta during the early 90s but then closed down. So when it opened again next to Kem Chick in Pacific Place, we went there to try their 1/4 Chicken Meal with original/black pepper sauce 39.9K. The chicken comes with 3 choices of side dishes (I chose the savoury rice, potato with garlic & parsley and mixed fruit) and home-made muffin (3 choices : chocolate raisin, banana raisin & vanilla) with ice lemon tea (refill) 14.9K. The service was quite speedy (can this place be categorized as a fast food restaurant?). Overall the meal was not bad, although SC said that he'd prefer Q than this one. The portion is big. I can hardly finish my muffin so we had to ask the waiter to provide a doggy bag. :)

After reading about this place from RestoDB and Appetite Journey, I urged SC to have dinner here. Located not far from Papa Mama Pastries. This place claims to serve Manhattan cuisine in Japanese style. We entered and asked for a non smoking section, but apparently the non smoking section is already full, so we have to sit in the smoking section. The service was quite good and fast, we ordered one of their specialty: Popeye's Favourite Chicken Roll (Spinach rolled with mozarella, breaded chicken and served with balsamic black pepper sauce) 36.5K, Cream of Mushroom Soup 16.5K, ice lemon mint tea 16.5K, and Malaysian Teh Tarik 16.5K. Overall I'm quite impressed with this place, our meal was delicious (both the mushroom soup & popeye's chicken roll) and the teh tarik was also delicious although it tasted more like chai. The presentation was attractive, but I'm not sure about their steak selection (it reminds me too much of abuba's steak). I suppose if they dared to call themselves 101 rolls, everything should be served rolled :)

Last month, I heard about this newly opened restaurant claiming to serve authentic Italian cuisine and I decided to try it. When we entered the restaurant on one Sunday afternoon for a very early dinner, the restaurant was empty, but I love the interior instantly. It feels like we're not entering a restaurant in an office building but in a small cafe in Italy :) The ambience was warm and cozy, with a very friendly service.
After being seated, we scanned the menu and found various selection from antipasti, contorni e insalata, zuppa, primi piatti, secondi piatti and pizza. So we picked pizza quatro formaggi - normal size (tomato sauce, pecorino, parmesan, ricotta and mozzarella) 25K and cannelloni al forno 40K. but instead of using cheese and tomato sauce, I asked them if they can make it using pesto sauce and they said OK. For dessert we choose souffle al ciocollato (chocolate souffle) 25K. Overall the meal was not bad, the pizza was OK, but my pesto sauce lacked pine nuts, and when we tried the souffle, it was rather sweet. When we asked, they said they were using milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. They thought we will prefer it sweet rather than a bit bitter.

On a recommendation of a friend, we visited this place for dinner. At first I'm not really sure about this restaurant, because from outside it said : "Gambrinus : German Pub/Restaurant and Indian Curry Kitchen". I don't understand how can they sell German cuisine along with indian cuisine. But since we're already there, we enter the place. The front section of the place is the bar with billiard table, we continue to walk through the door to inside room. the room surely was a dining room but it was empty, then we thought maybe the indian restaurant was on the second floor, so we headed upstair and found a deserted room. Confused we going downstairs again, and then we saw a waiter and asked him, we were escorted to the back side of the house where there were several wooden table. then he gave us a menu full with a long list of German cuisine & Indian cuisine.
Since we're not very hungry, we're not ordering their house specialty Schweinshaxe (a dish germany is famous for at least 1000gr pork knuckle marinated slow cook and prepared in frankfurt style or grilled with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes with matching mustard). While SC ordered Broccoli & chicken cream soup (puree of broccoli improved with double cream and herbs garnish with chicken) 22.5K, spagetti with fetta cheese on top (with prawn, anchovy, black olive and tomato) 39.5K , I was more into the Indian dishes, so I choose : Egg Biryani (hard boiled egg folded with red Indian curry and basmati rice with traditional indian herbs and spice) 28.5K. For dessert I want an indian dessert : Kaser Kulfi (creamy and smooth textured Indian ice cream made with fresh milk) but they we run out of stock, so we picked apple strudel. In my oppinion the pasta & biryani was ok, although not really special, I was started to think maybe we should order the Schweinshaxe (we saw on the table next to us ordering that, the portion was so big). The apple strudel was a disaster, it taken so long for them to prepared it and when it came it still cold and tasted horrible. I'm definitely sure that this come straight from the frozen food section. :(

I already heard about this place for quite some time now, but never have chance to try it my self. So this time, this place sits on our 'die die must try' list in Bandung. Located in Jl. Sawung Galing, actually its a residential house turned into a restaurant. So we were escorted from one room to another room until we decided to sit near the window. the place was designed in old colonial house, so the ceiling was quite high, & the lighting creates a cozy athosphere. I love this place instantly. :)
After reading their quite impressive menu, we start to order : for starter : Sauteed French escargot with garlic herbs butter on champignon mushrooms. half dozen 49.5K, two types of soup : Cream of field mushrooms soup with herbs garlic grissini 26.5K, Scotch broth, a clear vegetables, lamb and barley soup 24.5K. For main courses : we choose Grilled 6 oz. premium Australia Black Angus beef fillet with wild mushrooms ragout, creamy whipped potato and merlot reduction flavored with Arabica coffee beans 195K, and for dessert, we order chef Felix's special : Ultra Noir Chocolate Orgasm (a frozen Belgium couverture chocolate bombe with hazelnut and kahlua) 45K. In my opinion all the dishes were cooked into perfection, the steak was delicious, cooked medium-rare just like what we want, the meat was so juicy & tender. and the dessert was 'orgasmic'. For this quality of meal, and a friendly service, I think the price is very very reasonable. :)

We had lunch here several weeks ago, at first I want to have "nasi gule" at Unpar's cafeteria, but turned out the stall didn't open that day, so we went up to Bumi Sangkuriang instead. This place is one of my favorite place in Bandung. On my schools day, we used to swim here in the morning on afternoon, and after that we always snacked on : bitter ballen / chicken wings and pinacolada juice. This time we prefer to have our lunch in the indoor restaurant (not at the poolside).
We ordered : Bitter Ballen 12.5K, pumpkin soup (with julienne some beef) 12.5K, for main course we choose kakap steak with herb butter and french fries 29K and for dessert we had : warm chocolate cake with grand marnierre sauce 15.5K and off course pinacolada juice 9K. Overall the meal was delicious just like old times, quite affordable despite their price are subjected to 21% tax and service. :)

We stopped here to grab a quick bite before the movie last Monday, apparently this place have open for more than 1 month now, so there's no queue anymore. I just need something light that night so I only ordered Whoopy Jr. (a smaller version of whooper : flame-broiled beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, mayo, and ketchup) and then get a seat. The ambience of this place was quite nice, there's a comfy couch in the corner and most of all, the place have non-smoking rule :) The burger was not bad, the bread was tender, the meat was tasty, the vegetable was crunchy and taste fresh. But I still prefer Hot Shot's burger from this one :) We'll be back to try their other specialty

We went to the recently opened 'Q Smoke House Factory' for dinner last week, no its not a smoking room, but their specialty is "wood fire barbeque". The restaurant was decorated in wood, open ceiling with a dimly light that creating a warm & cozy place. Their concept is providing the authentic barbeque experience, the ribs was marinated and cook for minimum 8 hours in custom built barbeque pit imported from USA, using a mix of fruit and hardwood (pake kayu nangka bukan? kerja sama dgn departemen kehutanan ya?). And since It was the soft opening, they offer 30% pre opening discount for all the menu listed.
So here's what we ordered : for appetizer they have 3 choices : fried shrooms (breaded deep fried mushrooms served with ranch dipping sauce) 15K, Q buffalo wings (deep fried crispy wing marinated in spicy chili sauce) 17.5K and spanish fries (crispy baby potatoes, garlic mayo, spicy tomato sauce) 15K. We ordered fried shrooms & spanish fries (love both of it especially the fried shrooms).
The recommended entree salad was "asian salad" (greens with asian sesame dressing, crispy noodle) 15K, you can asked for additional smoked chicken for 5K only. For main course there are 3 choices of steak (Q rib eye hawaiian steak 49K, Q cajun strip loin steak 49K and Q cajun chicken steak 28K) 2 choices of pasta (spaghetti bolognaisse 25K, spaghetti with cream sauce, smoked chicken, fresh tomato, spinach & green pea 25K).
And their specialties : "barbeque beef ribs" (meaty falling-of-the-bone tender beef ribs smoked for 8 hours in barbeque pit) for only 34K (regular 2 ribs) and 49K (jumbo 3 ribs), smoked spiced chicken 28K. All the specialties are served with coleslaw, grilled bread, sliced onion and if you dare to eat jalapenos, you can request for it :) In my oppinion the ribs are incredibly delicious, so juicy and tender with not to sweet sauce, its hard to find such quality of ribs with this price in Jakarta, plus it came in avery generous portion and a stylish appearance *very recommended*, I still longing for that ribs till now. oh, they also got a selection of sandwich do try their "Q burger" (Q's reinterpretation of the old time favorites with piled high smoked beef brisket, sauteed onion & BBQ sauce) 25K.
For drinks they offer : hot & cold coffee (espresso, latte, flavored latte, capuccino, americano), tea (hot : chamomile, earl grey, mint tea, green tea, ginger tea, vanilla tea, cold : iced lemon tea, peach tea, lemongrass tea) and fruity & bubbly selection. We like their "refreshing strawberry" 15K and "minty pineapple" 12.5K, they also served italian soda (non alcohol) with various syrup that was worth trying. :)

We tried this new 'fastfood' pizza on one weekend several weeks ago, located next to beautika on Hanglekir road. in weeks day, I guess this place is full of Mustopo & Binus student :P They offered thin crust pizza (one size : 25cm) and serve several types of finger food such as : french fries, chicken wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella cheese sticks, garlic cheese pizza bread. They also have rootberry float, milk shakes, several types of cookies & brownies. So We ordered : "pepperoni pizza" (Fast Eddies's pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, & 20 slices of beef pepperoni, I did count the beef :P ) 35,455K, "garlic cheese pizza bread" (fresh pizza dough covered with butter, olive oil & fresh garlic, sprinkled with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, baked soft yet crispy, and served with fast eddie's pizza sauce) 13,636K. The pizza as not bad but the dough taste like biscuit (terlalu garing & gosong), the mozarella stick taste like gorengan & on contrary the dipping sauce (fast eddie's pizza sauce) looks like they came straight from the chiller. not bad though but I still prefer olio or marzano over this place :P

Last week we have dinner at a small yet cozy pizza house called Spizza located at Kemang. Apparently it is pizza franchise from Singapore, but since they use a traditional pizza oven, I think this one worth a try. The list of menu was quite impressive, consist of appetizer (10 items named after the emperor of rome), soup, pasta (9 dish name after cities of italy), pizza (26 choices named after Italian woman) and maincourse (6 choices name after the regions) and dessert (7 choices named after the famous female opera character). After studied the menu for a while we start to order : for appetizer we choose : "Lucullo" (oven baked portobello mushroom filled with beef breakfast ham and mozzarella cheese) 33K, from the pizza list we picked : "Laura" (mozzarella, tallegio, fontina, gorgonzola, parsley) Medium 53K, and for dessert we have "venere" (melted chocolate cake with classic vanilla ice cream) 28K. Because we spent more than 100K we can choose 1 more meal (pasta/pizza) for free, so we picked "capri" (traditional beef lasagna) 43K. Overall the meal was delicious and quite affordable, not as delicious as marzano, but 1 level above izzy pizza, so if you like thin crust pizza, this one is definitely a must try :)

Last Friday Borobudur hotel celebrate their 33th birthday and their restaurants (Cafe Bogor, Bruschetta Italian restaurant, Miyama Japanese restaurant, Teratai Chinese restaurant, Singosari poolside restaurant) were offering a special set menu for only 33K++. The "Cafe Bogor" was very crowded for people want to try Borobudur's famous "sop buntut" (oxtail soup), there's even a waiting list for that. So we decided to try their Italian restaurant : Bruschetta located at the 3rd floor.
apparently on their birthday celebration they only offer the "anniversary set menu"which consist of insalata di tonno con crostino di pane grigliato att aglio (tuna salad with grilled garlic bread), fettuccine alfredo con poletto (home made fettuccine pasta with chicken in cream sauce) and tiramisu dusted with chocolate powder. Overall the menu was simply delicious, especially the fettuccine pasta - cooked into perfection aldente, I think this is the most delicious pasta I had ever taste :)

Last Ramadhan season, i went to Kafe Pisa to break the fast with some friends. personally I didn't really interested had dinner in this place, from what I heard this place was famous for their gelato. but since my friends decided to go here, I think its worth to try. The place was so full when I arrived, we got seated inside the cafe and were given 2 menu : 1 for the meal & one for the gelato. this place served mainly Italian cuisine such as pasta, pizza, but I saw there's also several selection of asian cuisine (ayam rica, sop buntut, several types of fried rice, bakmi, & teriyaki). After a while we ordered : insalata primavera (tuna salad) 29.5K, Penne Pazze (penne pasta with chicken in creamy mozarella sauce) 35.5 and for drink i ordered 'tomato juice ala Italia' 19.5. after that we studied the gelato list. it was so tempting we can't help to order 2 type of gelato. Overal the meal good, very generous portion, the gelato was superb. I guess I'll be back for the gelato :)

I have lunch at Pizza Marzano at Senayan City with SC last weekend before we headed to Jakarta Book fair. Since SC was craved of cheese, we ended up ordering all kind of cheese like : "Fresh Baked Goat Cheese" and "Quattro Formaggi pizza" (4 types of cheese in 1 pan). and I have to admit they served damned delicious food. usually if I crave for thin crust Italian Pizza, I will go to Izzi Pizza, but after this I'll always went here. Bon Appetite :)
Last week, I had lunch at Chili's Grill & Bar Family Restaurant. This place served quite authentic Mexican cuisine. So here's what we ordered : "Triple Play" (a combo of chili's three favorite starters, generous portion of chicken crispers, wing over buffalo and southwestern eggrolls with sauces for dipping) 60K, "Classic Nachos" (Chili queso, cheese, beans, jalapenos, tomatoes, guacamole & sour cream) 52K, "Skillet Queso" with tostada chips and salsa 55K"Mushroom Jack Fajita" (1/2 pound of chicken or steak smothered with jack cheese, beef bacon & fresh sauteed mushroom) 160K, "South western Cobb Salad" (Crispy Chicken breast, relish, beef bacon, diced eggs, miced cheese, pico de gallo and avocado ranch dressing) 60K, "quesadilla explosion" (Fajita-marinated chicken, corn relish, mixed with cheese, cilantro, diced tomato and tortilla strips tossed in a citrus balsamic dressing, garnished with chipotle-ranch drizzle & cheese quesadilla wedges) 60K and "Country Fried Chicken" (served with mashed potatoes, sweet corn on the cob & garlic toast).
Overall the food was good & came in a very very BIG SIZES & good service too.
I visited Gelato Bar - Plaza Senayan Arcadia with some friends last Friday, at first we just want to have some dessert, but when I saw that there's 20% discount on the meal, I changed my mind :P so we ordered : Fish & Chips (27.5), Pasta Aglio Oglio Fettuccine (38K), 2 Scoop Gelato Waffle Basket (26.8K) with Strawberry Sauce Topping (+3K). The gelato was superb as usual, my fish & chips was OK, but my friend fettuccine turned out to be a surprise, she found a lot of green chili in the fettuccine, I never heard about that kind of pasta. And her comment was "It tasted like my Indomie goreng at home". :P

Ya udah is an Indonesian expression that means nevermind, an apt description for the bistro's minimal decoration and simple setup. The food however, is anything but ya udah. Jenz and I ordered Pork Steak Seppertoni 38.5K, charcoal-grilled 250 g pork loin topped with fruit creamy swiss sauce. The menu comes complete with soup of the day (tomato soup) and side dishes (Ya-udah potato gratin and brocolli pattie).
The pork loin is a wee bit chewy and I don't like the fruit-based swiss sauce (though Jenz loves it). The tomato soup is sufficiently sour and tasty, but what I really like is the cheesy potato gratin and the brocolli pattie. We will be back to try more of its menus.

Since the drink were so expensive (20K for coke, 18K for Aqua), we decided to ordered their lunch package 16K which consist of soup of the day (minestrone), tea/coffee, and choice of fruit/pineapple sherbet.

Last Wednesday night, we had dinner at Glosis, Puri Indah Mall. This is my first time to Glosis although I already knew this restaurant back in my school days in Bandung. This restaurant was first open at jl.Gunung Agung No.8 Bandung, but now can be found in some malls at Jakarta.
So we ordered : Fresh Mushroom Soup 9.5K, Wiener Schnitzel (pan fried breaded pork loin served with fries and sauteed vegetables and glosis white sauce) 26K, Picatta Milanesse (Pan fried pork loin with mix of egg and cheese served with barbeque sauce, fries and sauteed vegetables) 32.5K and American Mix Grill (a mix of grilled tenderloin, pork loin, chicken, sausage and bacon, topped with barbeque sauce. Served with fries and sauteed vegetables) 39.5K. we can change our fries with mash potato. Nothing really special but the price was quite reasonable.
Last weekend we had dinner at a small Swiss-German Restaurant at Bukit Sentul. its small but cozy restaurant, with a delicatessen downstairs offers a wide range of Quality Meat Products made by a German Master Butcher under the "Sven's Choice" Brand. The products include : Traditional Hams, Cold Cuts, Bacons, Portion Cut & Vacuum Steaks , Pates and Convenience Food and Sausages such as; Old English Pork, Chorizo, Merguez, Bratwurst, English Beef , Wiener Wuerstchen.
That night we ordered : Tomaten Rahm Suppe mit Basilikum (Tomato Cream Soup with Basil) 14.5K, Schweins Fillet "Zurcher Art" mit Rosti (Saute Pork Medallion on a creamy Mushroom Sauce served with Roesti Potato) 64.5K and caramel pudding for dessert. Last Friday after the wedding, with a couple of friend we decided to hang out at a new place called "Red Square : Jakarta's First Vodca Bar". The place had a very cool ambience, nice music.. designed in minimalism style. I don't quite remember what we ordered last night since I don't like liquor very much :)
When I check the menu, I saw that they serve Russian Fusion Cuisine - quite reasonable price, there was a special set lunch menu, you can choose from "Smoked Beef or Crab Asparagus Sandwich plus Czar Caesar Salad, Lemon Tarte and a Soft Drink (45K++), or Sateed Salmon or Chicken Kiev with Rice Pilaf, Czar Caesar Salad or Seafood Chowder plus Strawberry Crepes and a Soft Drink (49K++). Whenever I went to Bandung, I always went to "The Valley" for dinner. "The Valley" is a good place to dine as it is located on a hilltop that has spectacular view of the whole valley where Bandung is situated. There are some similar restaurant near this place such as "The Peak", "The View", "Sierra", etc.. but in my oppinion "The Valley" served much much more delicious food :)
That night when we arrived, we was lucky to get a table inside the restaurant, usually we eat at the terrace in oeder to enjoy the view. The restaurant inside was warm.. light by candlelight, and soft jazz music was playing at the corner. We ordered the house speciality : "The Zoupa Zoupa Soup" (unforgetable valley cream soup topped with freshly baked pastry crust) 18.5K, "Creme de Poulet" (french style cream of chicken soup served with garlic crackers) 14.5K, "Singaporean Claypot Rice" (authentic chicken rice served extremelly hot woth chicken seafood vegetable & soup) 32K, "Lamb Chop BBQ" (charcoal Grilled rib eye served with potato vegetables & mushroom sauce)... mmmm very delicious.. some of my friends friends show up that night.. there was life music where you can request a song, my friends surprised me by requested a happy birthday song for me :) and I got a small back forrest cake with candle on top .. hehehehe... what a night.. thx alot Manda, Ucie, Tika :)
