Last Month, after reading the third edition of Kuliner 'Ke Bogor Yuk!' series, I went to Bogor to try several dishes mentioned in the book. We arrived at Bogor around lunch time, so we decided to have lunch first. Our destination is Sate Pak Rebing near Empang area. The place is impossible to find if you're not familiar with the location as there's no signboard and it's hidden in a small alley. Luckily, we had some of the book writers to guide us. When we arrived, they've already ordered several portions of mutton satay and clear mutton soup. The gule was already sold out, so we only ordered the soup. The satay looks different from the mutton satays I've eaten before. It is cut in cubes and there's no visible grill marks or hints of sweet soy sauce on the satay. Although it looked undercooked, my friend explained that it is a cicurug style satay. Surprisingly, the taste was amazing, the meat was very tender, no prengus smell. It's accompanied by a plate of simple peanut sauce with sweet soy sauce. Add some chilli sauce and acar to the mix, it tasted very delicious. The soup was also not bad, although SC complained that they've put too much pepper in it. Overall, it was a very fullfilling lunch, and we still have so many meal to sample. oh no!

Kenny Rogers Roaster

Two weeks ago, we visited Kenny Roger's Roaster. Apparently, this restaurant once operated in Jakarta during the early 90s but then closed down. So when it opened again next to Kem Chick in Pacific Place, we went there to try their 1/4 Chicken Meal with original/black pepper sauce 39.9K. The chicken comes with 3 choices of side dishes (I chose the savoury rice, potato with garlic & parsley and mixed fruit) and home-made muffin (3 choices : chocolate raisin, banana raisin & vanilla) with ice lemon tea (refill) 14.9K. The service was quite speedy (can this place be categorized as a fast food restaurant?). Overall the meal was not bad, although SC said that he'd prefer Q than this one. The portion is big. I can hardly finish my muffin so we had to ask the waiter to provide a doggy bag. :)

Last Friday, we're planning to have dimsum with some friends at Ah Yat, but when we arrive at the Golden Boutique Hotel around lunch time, it was filled with people, and the waiter outside the restaurant informed us that the Dimsum menus were already sold out. We decided to go to ITC Mangga Dua and have our lunch there instead. Since it was 2 days before Eid-ul Fitri, some of the eateries there were closed. Fortunately, we found a place called Bihun Bebek Beijing that was still open. We got a table and started to eat everything put in front of us as we were very hungry. There were bakso ikan & talas goreng, 4 packs of tape singkong @3K, 6 portions of bihun bebek @26K, 2 portions of nasi kari, 1 roti cane + kari kambing 20K, 2 portions of rujak @15K, 10 glasses of liang teh. Overall, the meal was delicious, but we were quite shocked when we paid as it was quite pricey. I don't know whether this was because the coming Eid-ul Fitri made the raw materials expensive or because this place does have a higher price tags.

Visited this restaurant for dinner several weeks ago, This place was an Old Chinese Restaurant located at Kota served authentic Chinese Cuisine especially Hakka Cuisine. Their 'Udang telor Asin' is one of my all time favorite dishes, but since it was too expensive, this time we didn't order that. We order one of Liyen's signature dishes besides 'udang telor asin' is 'Ayam Garam' (salted chicken), 'Babi Hong' (kiu nyuk), sapo seafood, fish soup and noodles. Overall the meal was good, Their 'ayam garam' was so delicious, their 'babi hong' was delicious but still not as good as the one from Angke Restaurant, and if you didn't order 'udang telor asin', you'll be surprised to find that this place was indeed quite affordable :)

This place was very recommended by SC, he took me there last weekend for dinner :) its located on "Kaki Lima" not far from Sunter Mall, there's lots of interesting food stall there. I notice that most of it were from Pontianak food. Ayam Goreng Single Borobudur offer their delicious and crispy fried chicken, plus other gorengan like : tempe goreng, tempe bacem, tahu goreng, usus goreng (one of their speciality) served with a plate of kremesan ayam, nasi uduk plus a very hot sambal terasi.
